Soft light is very important when shooting macro subjects as it shows great detail, reduces harshness and also makes the image pleasant looking. Also the light coverage over the subject is very important.
The diffuser will work great for insects, frogs, small snakes like pit vipers and anything similarly sized. The closer you are to the subject better the diffusion.. This diffuser has 5 attachable parts and can be completely dismantled and packed flat into a 15 inch bag which can easily go into a laptop compartment of a camera bag or your travel bag/suitcase for portability.
It also has a detachable bottom reflector which can be used to bounce back light in situation where you are getting shadows under the subject and want to have light evenly fill in. In situations where you might no be able to use the bottom reflector you can easily detach it and mount it on top of the diffuser.
It has a Led module designed specially for focus assist in dark situations, it is powered by Powerbank (optional).
The light coming from it will be more than enough to gain focus of any subject in dark conditions.
This diffuser is compatible with DSLRs, Mirrorless cameras with lenses ranging from 60mm to 180mm macro lens with and without raynox adapters or extension tubes attached and available for different type of speedlights ( Standard sized flash, mini flash, Round head flash).
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
Please make sure to watch the assembly video and attach the parts in the order shown in the video.
Be gentle while assembling and disassembling the product mainly while attaching and detaching snap-on buttons.
Make sure to attach the all four buttons on the front diffusion panel
The strap in the Latch mechanism has enough amount of flex to move and change the angle of the diffuser. Don’t unnecessarily try bending the strap to check its flexibility, it might break.
Another update, there is one button on the main body both on the front half and the back half which you can attach even without the latch strap mechanism which will have the diffuser fixed at one particular angle.
Turning the led clockwise dismounts from the clamp.
While attaching it back make sure the cable is on the left-hand side while you lock it on the clamp which you can do by turning it anti-clockwise.
Since it’s a bright Led it consumes more power. Turn it on only when you want to focus and shoot.
Make sure to use the velcro on the led panel to attach around the lens or behind the hot shoe flash mount to have the diffuser stay in one place when shooting in upright angles.
White balance
To get the correct colours while using the Diffuser set your camera white balance to custom/Kelvin mode and try values in the range of 3800 to 4500. Shoot any small colourful subject while trying these values and once you have found the sweet spot use that value whenever you use the diffuser.
