Why an interchangeable bayonet?
The Arri PL version of the Aksen lenses is aimed at users working in mixed setups — scientific imaging, productions running several camera models, or rental inventories. PL itself is the cine standard, but not every camera carries it. For that reason the lens mount on this version is not fixed but built as an interchangeable bayonet.
Instead of buying a separate lens for every camera, only the rear bayonet is swapped. It takes a few minutes, needs no special tools and changes neither the flange distance nor the optical performance. For anyone running two or more systems it pays for itself with the first change.

Bayonets are available for Sony FE, Canon RF, Canon EF, Nikon Z, Fuji X, MFT and Leica L. Select the mount you need as a variant above.
Please note: interchangeable bayonets are intended exclusively for the Arri PL version of the Aksen lenses. The regular photo versions ship with a permanently fitted mount and cannot be converted.

A note on fitting
The change is made via the rear screws of the PL bayonet. Work in a dust-free environment and place the lens front element down on a soft surface so no particles reach the light path. As this is a purely mechanical adapter without electronics, no aperture or focus data is transmitted — something the fully manual Aksen lenses do not provide in any case.

Venus Optics officially lists the Aksen lenses for eight mounts: Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF, L-mount, Nikon F, Canon EF, Fuji X and Micro Four Thirds – plus Arri PL for cine work. A single lens model can serve that many systems thanks to the interchangeable bayonet concept: the optical block stays identical, only the rear bayonet ring is swapped.
This works because of the short flange distance of mirrorless systems combined with the purely mechanical, manual design of the Aksen lenses – there are no electronic contacts that would need adapting per system. Manufacturer figures stay unchanged after a swap: 45mm f/2.8 1–5X at Ø70.2 × 121 mm and 599 g, 17.5mm f/1.7 5–10X at Ø70.2 × 127.5 mm and 570 g.
